Latest News:

The UMW will host a Community Thanksgiving Service on Monday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. This year's theme will focus on our four basic freedoms: freedom of worship, freedom of speech, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Mark your calendars and join the UMW in celebrating our many blessings! The Five Grains of Corn tradition will also be observed. This is a beautiful service for families, creating a lifetime of memories.

General Info:

Globally, United Methodist Women (UMW), is a one-million member organization. Our purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice. Members raise more than $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children, and youth in the United States as well as in more than 100 countries around the world.

At First Church, the UMW unit is a vital, energetic organization where friendships are made, and support is given. Monthly meetings (usually the fourth Thursday of each month) are interesting and informative. Two major fundraisers consisting of fruit cake sales, and a Christmas cookie walk help support many local and world-wide missions. In 2013, this group donated over $3,000 to these charities and missions.

The UMW also host a variety of events throughout the year including an Easter egg hunt and party for the younger children of the church, a summer picnic, a community Thanksgiving service, and a Christmas party for the older youth of the church. This group also provides funeral luncheons for families of church members who have lost loved ones. The UMW and Daycare Staff recently joined together to raise $7,500 for a little boy diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatment at the Hershey Medical Center.

A hand of friendship is extended to all women at First Church to join the UMW.
